4. Engkanto Brewery ramps up its renewable energy programme
The Philippines craft brewer announces a major boost its solar power generation programme
Philippine craft beer producer Engkanto Brewery has teamed up with AboitizPower Distributed Renewables (ADR) to install solar panels at its facility in Carmona, Cavite. Engkanto hopes its move will set an example for other businesses in the craft beer and manufacturing sectors to also embrace and invest in renewable energy.
ADR, a unit of Aboitiz Power Corp, is a major Philippines provides of renewable energy solutions to commercial and industrial businesses. The planned solar energy system will significantly reduce the brewery’s reliance on conventional energy sources, decreasing carbon emissions.
ADR will supply 97.09 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar panels expected to generate approximately 130,293 kilowatt-hours (kWh) in the first year. Over the 20-year contract, the system is projected to produce about 2.6 million kWh of renewable energy. Construction of the solar project already began earlier this year, with testing and commissioning completed by the second quarter.
The partnership with Engkanto Brewery exemplifies efforts to enhance operational efficiency and promote sustainability in the craft beer industry. Founded by Ian Paradies in 2017, Engkanto Brewery is one of the most internationally awarded local breweries in the Philippines.
Initially operating in Makati, the company moved to a larger facility in Carmona to expand production and provide more employment opportunities.
